In Today's software environment, everyone will feel that why testing is required. Why do we have spend money in software testing. Can't we release the product/Project to the production environment without testing?
Yes... We Can't. Testing is required and it has to be executed in software project/Product before release it to the production environment. We do have so many examples where the products/projects are failed in the live environment without conduction testing on the software product.
for example, there was a company wants to release mobile phones in to the market. By the time they released their mobiles in to the market, other competitors are ruling the mobile market. So, to overcome in the mobile market they had released the product without testing. That time they thought that testing is not required. That product was dud in the market. Till now, they haven't come up with the new mobile phone in to the market.
Here i am not criticizing developers. Main activity of the tester is to concentrate on business requirements of the Customer only. If the functionality is mentioned in the Business requirements by the Customer, then the tester has to validate the same functionality is working in the application as per the that requirements or not. Tester has to concentrate mainly on completeness and correctness in terms of functionality, usablity, etc ...
In today's software industry, we do have different types of testing like ETL testing, Siebel Testing, SAP testing, Mainframe testing ... etc depends on the project/product technology. If testing is not required in SDLC, why do we have these many opportunities for testing of different technologies?
In my next post, i will come up with the basics of testing.
